Antonin Dvorak was a Czech composer known for works such as his Symphony No. 9, “From the New World,” and left many works drawing on Czech folk music.
His opera Rusalka, premiered in 1901, depicts the tragic love of the water spirit Rusalka for a human prince. The aria “Song to the Moon,” in which Rusalka entrusts her longing to the moon in Act 1, is especially famous.
