Imaizumi Yoshinori was a Japanese zoologist (mammalogist) who studied mammals for many years at the National Science Museum.
Working from specimens brought by Togawa Yukio and others, he described the Iriomote cat as a new species in 1967. As a large wild mammal found in Japan in the late 20th century, it caused a sensation in Japan and abroad.
