John Keel was an American journalist and writer, known as a researcher of UFOs and the paranormal.
He reported on the Mothman sightings in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, in 1966–1967 and published The Mothman Prophecies in 1975. The book was made into a film in 2002, making the Mothman famous around the world.
