What are reptilians?
“Reptilians” refers to aliens that look like reptiles, or humanoid reptiles (“lizard people”). They are depicted with features reminiscent of lizards and snakes, such as scaly skin and eyes with vertical slit pupils.
The reptilian conspiracy theory
Reptilians became famous through a conspiracy theory that spread from the 1990s. It claims that reptilians disguise themselves as humans, blend into society, and rule the world from behind the scenes as politicians, royalty and billionaires. As the internet spread, videos in which a celebrity’s eyes momentarily seem reptilian circulated as “evidence.”
Criticism of the reptilian theory
There is no evidence at all for the reptilian conspiracy theory. It has also been strongly criticized because its framework of “a small group secretly ruling the world” overlaps with discriminatory conspiracy theories in history. On the other hand, myths of gods and peoples in the form of snakes and dragons exist all over the world, and beings combining human and serpent, such as India’s naga, have been told of since ancient times. Reptilian aliens disguised as humans also appear often in science fiction dramas and films.
