Ferdynand Ossendowski was a Polish writer and explorer.
Beasts, Men and Gods (1922), his account of fleeing the civil war after the Russian Revolution from Siberia to Mongolia, became a worldwide bestseller. In it he wrote, as a tale heard from Mongolian monks, of an underground kingdom called “Agharti” and the “King of the World” who rules it. It is known as one of the books that spread the legend of Agartha.
