Kubodera Tsunemi is a Japanese zoologist specializing in cephalopods such as squid and octopus. He carried out his research at the National Science Museum.
In 2004, in the deep sea off the Ogasawara Islands, he succeeded in photographing a living giant squid for the first time in the world. In 2012 he was also involved in filming a giant squid swimming in the deep sea from a submersible, and the footage, broadcast on TV in 2013, caused a great response.
