Luigi Serafini is an Italian artist, architect and designer born in Rome. He has presented work in a wide range of fields, including painting, sculpture, ceramics and stage design.
In the late 1970s he spent about two and a half years drawing an encyclopedia of an imaginary world, the Codex Seraphinianus, published in 1981. Filled with an invented script and strange illustrations, the book drew attention worldwide and is also called “the modern Voynich Manuscript.”
