What is Caddy?
Caddy (Cadborosaurus) is a sea-serpent-type cryptid said to be sighted off the coast of British Columbia on Canada’s west coast. It was named after Cadboro Bay near Victoria, where it was seen.
Sightings and the “carcass” photo
Sightings came one after another in the 1930s, and it became widely known after a local newspaper named it “Cadborosaurus.” It is described as having a head like a horse or camel, a long neck and humps on its back. In 1937, the carcass of a long-bodied creature was reportedly found in the stomach of a sperm whale cut up at a whaling station, and a photo of it survives.
What is Caddy really?
Some suggest the carcass in the photo was a baleen whale fetus or a large fish. Other theories say the sightings were sea lions, elephant seals, oarfish or driftwood mistaken for a creature, but its true identity is unknown.
