Who was George Adamski?

George Adamski (1891–1965) was a Polish-born American known as the original “contactee,” a person who claimed to have met and interacted with aliens in person.

Meeting a Venusian

Adamski said that in November 1952, in the California desert, he met a Venusian who stepped out of a landed saucer, and talked with him through gestures and telepathy. Flying Saucers Have Landed (1953), the co-authored book describing the experience, became a worldwide bestseller and, translated into Japanese, created many enthusiasts in Japan too.

The Adamski saucer and doubts

The bell-shaped saucer Adamski said he photographed, with a dome on top and three spheres underneath, came to be called the “Adamski-type saucer” and became a typical image of UFOs. However, the photos have been suspected of being models made with things like a lampshade, and since Venus was found to be uninhabitable, most of his claims are considered to have little credibility.
