What is the Haunebu?

The Haunebu is a disc-shaped aircraft (UFO) said to have been secretly developed by Nazi Germany during World War II. It is usually depicted as a bell-shaped craft with gun turrets underneath, said to have flown by anti-gravity or some special propulsion.

How the Nazi UFO legend spread

Stories that Nazi Germany was developing disc-shaped weapons were told soon after the war. Wartime sightings of mysterious lights by Allied pilots, such as the foo fighters, are part of the background to such rumors. The name “Haunebu” and supposed blueprints and photos circulated widely mainly through publications in Germany and elsewhere from the 1990s on, along with the added story that an occult society called the “Vril Society” was involved.

Did the Haunebu really exist?

No contemporary official documents or solid evidence of the Haunebu have been found, and the photos in circulation are thought to be models. It has also been pointed out that it closely resembles the Adamski-type saucer. The Nazi UFO legend is sometimes tied to certain ideologies that mythologize the Nazis, and historians consider it baseless.
