What are the music room ghost stories?

Ghost stories about the music room after school are among the best known of the seven wonders of the school. Typical ones go like this.

In the evening or at night, piano music is heard from the music room, where no one should be. The player is the ghost of a child who loved the piano but died of illness or in an accident. The eyes of the portraits of Beethoven, Bach and Mozart lining the music room walls move, or shed tears of blood at midnight.

Why are the portraits scary?

Of the music room portraits, Beethoven in particular is often depicted with a stern, frowning face, a slightly scary presence for children. A portrait facing straight ahead can seem to follow you with its eyes even as you change your viewing angle, and this is thought to be behind the rumor that “the eyes move.”

The seven wonders of the school

Other seven wonders of the school include the anatomical model walking around the science room, Hanako-san appearing in the toilet, and a staircase that gains a step only at night. Sometimes it is added that knowing all seven brings misfortune. All of them can be seen as ghost stories born from the eeriness of a school, busy with children during the day, falling silent after hours.
