The “alien mummies” shown in Congress
On September 12, 2023, a hearing on UFOs (UAP) was held in Mexico’s federal Congress. There, Jaime Maussan, a journalist known as a UFO researcher, presented two small mummies in glass cases, claiming they were “the bodies of non-human beings unrelated to the evolutionary lineage of life on Earth.” The mummies were about 60 cm tall, with large heads and three fingers on each hand.
Claimed to be found in Nazca
According to Maussan, the mummies were found near Nazca in southern Peru, famous for its geoglyphs, and were about 1,000 years old. He also said that DNA analysis at a university had found unknown DNA, and that X-rays showed egg-like objects inside the bodies. Because they were presented in such a public place as a national congress, it became major news around the world.
How scientists see them
Many scientists, however, expressed strong doubts. Maussan had presented Peruvian “alien mummies” before, and in 2017 Peruvian prosecutors issued a report on similar bodies saying they were fakes with paper and glue made to look like skin. In January 2024, Peruvian forensic experts announced that similar three-fingered dolls they had seized and examined were human and animal bones combined with modern glue. Whether these were the same as the two shown in the Mexican Congress has not been confirmed, but they have never been recognized as alien bodies.
Stories of alien bodies
Uproars over “alien bodies” have recurred again and again since the Roswell incident of 1947. The image of a small alien with a large head also overlaps with that of the Grey.
